Going Down: Atramedes

April 30th, 2011 | Category: Going Down

He didn’t see this coming!  Now, no time for puns…I’ve got the rest of the raid to run.  Congrats on being 9/12, guild.

Going Down: Conclave of Wind

April 27th, 2011 | Category: Going Down

Do you know how hard it is to come up with puns about Arabian things?  I dunno…something about Arabian Knights, or uh…Lawrence of…I dunno.  I’m still sick.  Screw you.  At least the screenshot rocks.

[Insert joke here]

Who will get the legendary staff?

April 27th, 2011 | Category: GM Talk

When patch 4.2 releases, raid groups like ours will get a unique opportunity.  Previously, all legendary items were relegated to either low drop rates or quests that could only be completed in 25-man groups.  For the first time, a legendary questchain will be completable by 10-man raids.

This will be a fun and exciting thing for us as long as we can handle the responsibility of choosing someone to wield this item.

I’ll be perfectly honest…the first person that comes to my mind is Jasprock.  The legendary will be a DPS caster staff this time around and I can think of no one who fits that role who has been as consistent in attending raids as Jasprock.

Now, I could be making some glaring oversight, of course, which is why I’m posting this so far in advance.  I’d like to see what the consensus is on this topic.  Do most of you feel that this would be the right choice, or is there someone else I’m completely overlooking?

My main hope is that this quest chain will be more like the Shadowmourne chain, as opposed to, say, Val’anyr.  Val’anyr was simply, “Collect 30 fragments, then kill Yogg Saron.”  Boooooring.  Shadowmourne had the collection segment, but went on to require specific criteria while fighting various ICC bosses.  These criteria required the raid to think of some different tactics in order to complete them.  I think it would be very fun for us to all band together for the common goal of completing this item.

Bonus for the rest of us non-Jasprock-types?  The developers announced in their most recent Q&A session that guilds who complete the staff will get a guild reward.  We have no idea what this reward could be, but don’t you want it?

I thought so…

So, feel free to comment here with thoughts on this whole Legendary business, so we can be prepared for Firelands (which I’m officially calling as having a June 7th release, by the way…you heard it here first).

Going Down: Chimaeron

April 21st, 2011 | Category: Going Down

If I might be serious for a moment, our healers really rocked it the fuck out on Chimaeron, scoring us a rather quick, clean kill.  Excellent job, guys.

Going Down: Twilight Ascendant Council

April 21st, 2011 | Category: Going Down

When fire, water, earth, air and heart combine, the end result is usually a big dude who wants to clean up the planet and make sure you don’t smoke cigarettes.

When heart sits on the bench, that dude turns into a real dick.

Going Down: Valiona and Theralion

April 21st, 2011 | Category: Going Down

So, the guild has been downing new bosses recently, but something has been amiss.  There’s been the feeling that something was wrong…incomplete, if you will.  You could feel it in the air.  You could see it on the forlorn faces of children and small dogs all across America.

But worry not, my friends.  I know the source of this sadness.  It is because we haven’t seen a single “screenshot” of our kills since Halfus Fucking Wyrmbreaker.

This must change.  So, without further ado, I present to you the first of three rapid fire, belated “screenshots.”  Ladies and gentlemen…V&T:

Smokin’ Polls: Class changes, 6 months later.

April 20th, 2011 | Category: Smokin' Polls

Hey guys…remember when patch 4.0.1 hit, before Cataclysm was even released?  Back then, a lot of the classes changed in ways that made them damn near unrecognizable from their previous states (and then there were affliction warlocks).  Well, back then, we asked you how you felt about those changes.

By now, we all have been playing the new styles so long that it’s likely just second nature, but back then, it looks like a few of us weren’t completely happy with the changes.  Fortunately, a good majority of us really enjoyed what they did.

If you remember how you answered way back when, feel free to hop in the comments and let us know why you felt the way you did — and if you still do.

Be sure to check out the new poll on the main page now.

The Weekly Quest: The Alliance Needs, uh…Feasts?

April 19th, 2011 | Category: The Weekly Quest

It’s time, once again, for the Weekly Quest…where you can earn rewards for helping the guild with stuff and things.  This week’s quest comes late in the day because, well, I really couldn’t think of anything until Cull had a wonderful idea.

Feasts!  Yes, feasts.  We can always use more materials for feasts.  Goblin barbeques, Broiled Dragon Feasts…I’m getting a little e-hungry just thinking about all that virtually delicious grub.

So, what exactly do we need for all of this?  5 types of materials, all of which will be worth different amounts towards your contribution total.  Contributing items in stacks of 20 will earn points for this challenge.  The top three point earners on May 2nd — that’s right, this is a two-week challenge – will get GXP, with the overall winner getting something special!

Elementium Bar:  1 stack of bars (not ore) is worth .5 points.
Toughened Flesh:  1 stack is worth 1 point.
Dragon Flank:  1 stack is worth 1 point.
Delicate Wing:  1 stack is worth 2 points.
Lavascale Catfish:  1 stack is worth 3 points.

In order to get credit for donations, please mail them to Cutaia, who will log them and throw them in the guild bank for future culinary crafting.  Now go mine, farm, fish and kill your little hearts out.

The Rewards:

First Place:  The winner will receive 3GXP as well as the Alliance Argent Tournament companion pet of their choice!  These pets include the Teldrassil Sproutling, Dun Morough Cub, etc…
Second Place:  This person will receive 2GXP and a pat on the back.
Third Place:  This person will receive 1GXP, sans back pat.

Quest Completed: A Handful of Tasks

April 12th, 2011 | Category: The Weekly Quest

Three weeks ago, I announced the most recent Weekly Quest.  A trip to Vegas, a few clubs and a terrible sickness later and I suppose I’m finally ready to announce the results.  Now, keep in mind that I was wandering The Strip waving around a foot and a half tall Tom Collins when most of these things took place, so Galnadir is who you have to blame if it’s all wrong.  Hmm…now that I mention it, it does look like he manage to do every one of the tasks.  I call shenanigans!

The Point Gainers:

Task 1:  The only person who hit the weekly guild contribution cap of 1,575,002 was (supposedly) Galnadir, earning him one GXP.
Task 2:  Galnadir was joined by Miyoko in donating 1,000 gold to the guild bank, so both of them earned a point each.
Task 3:  Four people showed up for the attempted Guild Zul’Aman run.  These were Galnadir, Miyoko, Syvarian and Rashmahal, each earning 1 GXP.  Everyone else earns my disapproving frown for not showing up.  Here it is in emoticon form:  :(
